On April 5, at the request of 25th District

On April 5, at the request of 25th District Attorney Mark Davidson, TBI agents began a joint investigation into the March 20 armed robbery of El Ranchito restaurant in Bolivar, that resulted in the killing of 19-year-old Michael Ruiz.

The investigators discovered a connection to several other armed robberies in Hardeman County from Dec. 9 through March 30.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, 11 suspects, including seven adults and four juveniles, were arrested in connection with the following armed robberies:

• Dec. 9: Ready Mart in Bolivar.

• Dec. 11: Big Lakes Grocery in Bolivar.

• Jan. 15: Dollar Tree in Bolivar.

• Feb. 24: Larry’s Quick Stop in Whiteville.

• Feb. 27: Dollar General in Toone.

• March 20: El Ranchitos in Bolivar.

• March 30: Dollar General in Hornsby.

The seven adults all received varied charges and bond amounts for their suspected involvement in the robberies, including:

• Taylor Lucas Robinson, 18, of Bolivar, was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm attempting to commit a dangerous felony, first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder and was held without bond.

• John Gray, 19, of Bolivar, was charged with especially aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm attempting to commit a dangerous felony and first-degree murder and was held without bond.

• Jamarcus Dequan Murdock, 19, of Bolivar, was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm attempting to commit a dangerous felony and was held on $400,000 bond.

• Tacyvin Demetriez Douglas, 18, of Bolivar, was charged with aggravated robbery and was held on $20,000 bond.

• Brenterrius Eesean Holmes, 18, of Whiteville, was charged with aggravated assault and was held on $150,000 bond.

• Benjamin Turner, 18, of Bolivar, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm attempting to commit a dangerous felony and was held without bond.

• Jaquan Blakemore, 19, of Bolivar, was charged with aggravated robbery and attempted first-degree murder and was held without bond.
