According to WEMA director Joey Cooper, certifying students must complete classroom and two days of junkyard training, while re-certifying students must complete classroom and one day of junkyard training.

The training consists of use of equipment, personal safety, response, assessment hazard control, support operations, access and disentanglement and special vehicles.

“Extensive hands-on practical exercises are utilized to allow students to perform in simulated environments,” said Cooper.

Harris Scrap Metal on Cainsville Road in Lebanon provided cars to be cut up in the training, as well as the training site.
