Knowing that high-performance powerboat insurance

Knowing that high-performance powerboat insurance man Devin Wozencraft planned to once again hit the road with his 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran and campaign the outboard engine-powered cat in several events this season, we gave him an assignment: Take pictures and send them to us.

Devin Wozencraft had fun and got a little creative with his photo essay chronicling last week’s Tickfaw 200 Poker Run. All photos courtesy/copyright Devin Wozencraft/Speedonthewater.com.

In turn, we agreed to create photo galleries from every event in which Wozencraft participated, starting with the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run this month and finishing up with either the Lake Powell Challenge in September or the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run in November. Just for fun, we decided to call this series of galleries the Wozencraft World Tour. (OK, with the exception of perhaps straying into Canadian waters during this summer’s 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run Wozencraft’s season of adventure will be limited to domestic venues.)

Why would we ask an amateur photographer for his images when we have a professional shooter—speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden—on assignment at almost every major event this season? Because Wozencraft is just that, an amateur, which means he’s less focused on composition, exposure, lighting, shutter speed and the rest and more concerned with being in the moment and capturing it as it unfolds.

In three weeks, Wozencraft will head for the Roostertails On Rocky Top Poker Run in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he’ll meet up with Jody Hamilton of Diverse Offerings Finance, an outfit that specializes in high-performance powerboat financing. He left his 30-footer behind in Gonzales, La., at the home fellow Skater owner Michael Pierce. (Pierce owns a beautiful Skater Platinum Series 388.) As for this year’s Tickfaw event, Wozencraft said, “It didn’t disappoint. It never does.”

But we’ll let the pictures tell the story, just as we will with every event Wozencraft attends this season.
